Make the most of mango season with this light, tangy and refreshing buttermilk mango lassi!
This smoothie-like drink is brought to life with the sweetness of ripe mango, honey, cardamom, and our very own Gippsland Jersey Buttermilk. While the drink originated in India, it is enjoyed all over the world now and is perfect to accompany breakfast, as a snack, or to cool down your mouth after a hot curry!
Our buttermilk is a great source of protein and aids your gut health thanks to the live cultures added during fermentation (similar to those in yoghurt). This is why lassis are often offered to accompany spicy rich meals – they aid in digestion! Buttermilk also has the added perks of being low in fat and rich in vitamin B12, riboflavin, calcium and phosphorus.

Buttermilk Mango Lassi
Prep time: 5 mins
Servings: 4 cups
2 cups Gippsland Jersey Buttermilk
2 cups fresh or frozen mango
Dash of cardamom (optional)
1 tbsp honey
Crushed pistachios + desiccated coconut as garnish
Blitz Buttermilk, mango, cardamom (if using) and honey together in a blender until thoroughly combined. Pour into cups and sprinkle with garnish as desired. Serve straight away.
