RECIPE// The Best Boozy Hot Chocolate

The most delicious boozy hot chocolate starts with the best milk you can find, and a few other high quality ingredients. Treat yourself with this warming winner.

We used full fat Gippsland Jersey milk and added dark chocolate to take the flavour and texture up a notch, as well as cocoa and a pinch of salt. Alcohol is optional, but always a welcome and warming addition in our opinion.

We also frothed the hot choc before serving to give it an even silkier mouth feel - and Gippsland Jersey is the only cow’s milk you should be using when it comes to frothing. Trust us on this!

RECIPE// The Best Boozy Hot Chocolate

Serves: 1
Cooking time: 10 mins


  • 1 cup Gippsland Jersey full cream milk 
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup dark chocolate chopped
  • 1 shot alcohol of choice (Kahlua, Baileys, Whisky all work well)
  • Sprinkle of salt


Heat the milk in a saucepan until steaming. Add in cocoa, mix thoroughly. Add chocolate and salt and mix until all melted and incorporated. Take hot chocolate off the stove and add alcohol. Froth until desired consistency, and serve with a dollop of whipped cream on top if you wish.
