Honey Whipped Brown Butter is here to get your taste buds tingling! Sure - our cultured butter is super delicious on its own, but take a bit of time to let it brown, add some simple flavours and whip it up and it transforms into this nutty, salty and sweet aerated delight!

It's versatile too. We enjoyed slathering it straight onto hot sourdough bread, but it would just as easily work in toasties, on scones, drizzled over roast veggies like carrots or peas, or even layered on crostini with pear, brie and walnuts.

Flavouring butter extends its life and encourages you to enjoy it in new ways. Our cultured butter is already flavourful, and browning it really takes it to another delicious level. Other flavours you could try with whipped brown butter include - honey thyme, maple bacon, rosemary garlic or cinnamon sugar. Excuse us while we drool.

RECIPE// Honey Whipped Brown Butter

Cooking time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Roughly 150g butter
  • Honey to taste
  • Flaky sea salt
  • 2 trays ice cubes
  • Cold water

Instructions

In a frying pan, heat the butter over medium heat until completely melted and bubbly. As it browns take care to watch it carefully and stir to ensure it doesn’t burn. Continue to heat until the froth increases, and the colour turns a rich nutty golden brown. You will notice dark brown milk solids at the bottom of the pan. Add a squeeze of honey (roughly 3 tbsp) and generous pinch of sea salt. Have a little taste and adjust accordingly. Leave to cool to room temperature.

In a large bowl add ice cubes and enough water to almost cover them. Place a smaller glass or metal bowl inside the ice bowl and pour the melted browned butter into it. Whip until thick, light and creamy or your desired consistency. Place onto serving dish and sprinkle with sea salt. Serve at room temperature!
