Mat Warren - March // 2026 Mental Health Calendar

Third-generation Mat Warren left school at 16 for one reason: cows. From 400 with his parents Wayne & Trudi. Later Yvette joined the family and they hit the accelerator. Today they have three businesses: 2,500 cows spin through two rotaries, every calf is reared for beef/replacement stock and six bulk transport trucks keep Gippsland moving. 

Yvette grew up on two acres with horses, no farming in her blood. One Sale Cup, one smile from Mat, and she swapped beauty therapy for bookkeeping, HR, payroll and calf-rearing across three businesses that they’ve built together while raising four kids now 12, 10, 9 and 6. She can reverse a 40-foot auger, run a multicultural crew and still lodge the BAS on time. 

A decade ago staff chaos nearly broke them – no-shows, 3 a.m. phone calls, police at the gate, people vanishing overnight. They made the switch to Filipino workers: honest, proud, committed and desperate to do a good job. The change was instant. The farm doubled in five years, the drama disappeared, and the team became family. 

They’re opposites that click: Mat is big-picture and black-and-white; Yvette is the detail queen with a soft heart and steel spine. When Mat broke both arms while out irrigating, Yvette kept dairies, trucks and kids running. Automation, new water pivots and a new house away from the dairy shed have turned chaos into rhythm these days. 

Dairying runs in Mat’s blood; resilience is built into Yvette’s bones. Together they’re proof Gippsland dairy can be very successful, profitable and full of challenges that can be overcome if you dare to think big.
