DIAA raises $2180 for Lifeline Gippsland

$2180 was raised for Lifeline Gippsland as part of the DIAA Dairy Product Competition that held a auction to sell all the amazing cheese that was submitted for judging.

The DIAA conference asked Gippsland Jersey who we’d like the donation to go to in memory of Sallie's Dad and we chose Lifeline Gippsland, for reasons outlined by the CEO, Michelle Possingham in an email to us below;

"I wish I could convey via email how very much this means to our organisation. Lifeline Gippsland receives only 25 per cent of the funding required to support our contribution to the National 13 11 14 Crisis Line, a line dedicated to ensuring that no one has to face their darkest moments alone. To make up the funding shortfall, we operate six charity retail stores. Of course, this year we have seen a significant downturn in revenue not just in our retail stores, but in almost every self-generated income stream. From a financial perspective, it has been a very difficult year. When I heard from Sallie that the Dairy Industry Association of Australia would be supporting us, I was, and continue to be, overwhelmed with gratefulness.

Without the generosity of people like Sallie, you Tim, and the DIAA, Lifeline Gippsland would not be able to continue our lifesaving service that we have proudly been providing for 53 years. I try not to speak too much about COVID, but it is now part of our story. When the pandemic hit, and as Australia continued to feel its impact, we saw a 40 per cent increase in calls to Lifeline. We see this as a positive, as it meant that more people were reaching out for help at a time when they needed it most. Call levels remain high, and despite the many challenges we have faced over the past two years, and continue to face, so do the spirits of our incredible staff and volunteers. Sharing the story of your generosity goes a long way toward ensuring the team feel valued.
