Sip & Plunge event at Lakes Entrance Foreshore - A cold dip for mental health! East Gippsland Winter Festival

by Gippsland Jersey

A BIG thank you to everyone that got their clothes off in the middle of winter to help us kick the winter blues by jumping into Gippsland Lakes.
Forty people leapt into the freezing cold water with many squeals and some curse words; many surprised us by staying in the water, trying to challenge themselves after hearing what Jeanette Severs had to say about the benefits of cold water swimming.
It was fantastic to see so many people show up  in support of our public event in collaboration with the East Gippsland Winter Festival.

About 40 swimmers took to the water and braved the chill, A great morning was had by those that got involved.
The warm toasty fire was very much needed to warm everyone up after the dip - thank you to the legends at  Lakes Entrance CFA, who even got amongst the action.
Everyone who took part was incredibly generous in their donations to Lifeline Gippsland, with all funds raised to go directly to supporting Lifeline's 13 11 14
crisis line, available 24/7.
Next year let's add a zero to that 40 and have 400 people join us! It was truly invigorating and the community vibe was magical!
Well done to these people who took out the prizes.

Gippsland Lifeline CEO Michelle Possingham was thrilled with the turnout and very grateful for the raised funds.
