How to make the best milkshake

How good is a cold, creamy, frothy milkshake! To ensure your milkshake is at it’s fluffy best, make sure you follow these simple tips.
QUALITY COUNTS
When it comes to making the perfect milkshake, it’s really all in the ingredients you choose. Here, quality counts, so opt for a bottle of Gippsland Jersey Full cream or Light milk, a good quality ice-cream, and pure vanilla extract to ensure you get the taste you’re after. Our unhomogenised milk also makes a beautiful milkshake!
USE A BLENDER
Unless you have a designated milkshake maker, use your blender to ensure your milkshake is perfectly combined, and that the ice-cream is incorporated into the drink. If you don’t have a blender, your stick blender is your next best option, and can help you achieve those signature bubbles on top.
DRINK IT UP
Milkshakes are best as soon as they’re made, so make sure you drink it as soon as it’s ready.
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Serves 2
4 large scoops vanilla ice-cream
2 cups milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
STEP 1
Place all the ingredients in a blender and blitz until smooth.
STEP 2
Pour the milkshake into two chilled glasses and serve immediately. Kids love a straw!
OTHER FLAVOURS TO TRY
Use the above recipe as a base to make some of these tasty milkshakes at home.
CHOCOLATE MILKSHAKE
Replace the vanilla extract with 3 tablespoons of chocolate topping and blend until smooth. Drizzle extra chocolate topping around the inside of each chilled glass. Pour in the milkshake and serve immediately.
CHOC-MALT MILKSHAKE
Replace the vanilla extract with 2 tablespoons of both chocolate topping and malted milk powder and blend until smooth. Drizzle extra chocolate topping around the inside of each chilled glass. Pour in the milkshake and serve immediately. Sprinkle some Oreos on top!
BERRY BANANA MILKSHAKE
Reduce the vanilla extract to 1 teaspoon and add ½ small, peeled banana and ½ cup frozen mixed berries and blend until smooth. Pour into chilled glasses and serve.
MANGO MILKSHAKE
Reduce the vanilla extract to 1 teaspoon and add 1 roughly chopped large mango to the mix and blend until smooth. Pour into chilled glasses and serve immediately.
